AIRLINE COMMITTEE REPORT JFK BROKERS ASSOCIATION RUSSO’S ON THE BAY 05/16/18
Please find as attached (2) notices of RATE INCREASES from both UNITED AIRLINES and LUFTHANSA CARGO.
The UNITED AIRLINES increase is effective JUNE 01, 2018 and the LUFTHANSA CARGO increase is effective JULY 01, 2018.
The LUFTHANSA CARGO increase will be a hardship to our local airport community as Lufthansa is effective 07/01/18 going to eliminate their “free time policy” of the 1st weekend free. Our association has been in contact with the local management, VITO D’ ANNA, Handling Manager JFK regarding this change of policy. Unfortunately as of yet we have not been successful in making any changes.
LUFTHANSA CARGO is adamant that their warehouse is filled to capacity presently. Their stance on this issue is due to the successful implementation Of ACE releases therefore clearance times are reduced and freight is more readily available as they are open (24) hrs.
With that being said this brings us to another issue at LUFTHANSA CARGO as brought to our attention by a member is that the freight is not being broken down timely now . Our member was told that on the LFD when his trucker is present the freight would be broken down. We also addressed this matter with LH and we have been told at which time the import manager should be contacted as this is not acceptable.

Another complaint along the same lines as we learned from another member is with WORLDWIDE FLIGHT SERVICES. We have learned that an MOD at BLDG 9 has informed us that STORAGE FEES are determined by date of arrival and not based upon availability. This is totally unacceptable as again (notably TURKISH AIRLINES/ SILK WAYS) the freight is NOT broken down and we are already at LFD.
